No one's doing it quite like Joel Corry. A hit machine with over 4 billion streams to his name who keeps one foot in the underground, he’s scoring UK number one singles while topping the charts on Beatport, earning BRIT Award nominations alongside Ibiza and Las Vegas club residencies. And he does it all under one name: his own. “I want to be that guy who can do it all. I know it's not normal, but it excites me,” he says. He never stays still: constantly evolving, hitting milestone after milestone in pop and dance music, and always hungry for more. Having grown up with a UK garage DJ and MC for a brother, he tapped into that first love for his breakthrough Top 10 single ‘Sorry’ in 2019, a cover of UKG duo Monsta Boy which broke the all-time 24-hour Shazam record in the UK. Buoyed by his success, Joel knuckled down in the studio and began crafting a catalogue of future hits, with a star-studded list of collaborators lining up to work with him. Not even the global lockdown could slow him down. ‘Head and Heart’ with MNEK dropped in summer 2020, providing a welcome dose of positivity. It hit the top of the UK singles chart, a first for both artists, and stayed there for six weeks, becoming the optimistic soundtrack to returning park hangouts and pub gardens. Since then he’s worked with the cream of British pop, including Charli XCX, Becky Hill, RAYE, Tom Grennan and Mabel, as well as international stars like Saweetie, Bryson Tiller and David Guetta. After making his breakthrough with a cover, Joel’s now firmly a part of shaping pop history. He’s an in-demand remixer, too, transforming tracks by the likes of Nina Simone, Ed Sheeran, Megan Thee Stallion and Elton John, who’s become a friend, to his own vision. Whoever he’s working with, Joel’s signature is his earworm hooks and strong melodies that connect on an emotional level. It’s an addictive sound that people keep coming back to, reflecting his ambition to make music that’s timeless. Although now a certified star and in-demand international DJ, he’s still a raver at heart, with his best memories made on dancefloors. Behind the decks is where he feels most alive, equally comfortable playing to pitch-black rooms and on pyrotechnic festival stages. He always asks for a minimum of three hour sets to take crowds on a journey through his tastes, including special edits of his hits reworked for the club. He loves the idea that someone could turn up to his sets and hear something unexpected. Having worked the circuit tirelessly for a decade, selling his own bar residency tickets at international party resorts and playing in every postcode in Britian, he emerged from lockdown a star and instantly advanced to the world’s biggest club and festival stages. Having kept his skills sharp with monthly live streams, he’s handled the ascent with ease. Tommorowland, Creamfields, EDC Las Vegas and Ultra are just some of the dream bookings ticked off. Next he wants to headline them. His style of blending heads-down grooves and hands-up euphoria always makes for an unforgettable danceflooor experience. He’s increasingly in-demand internationally, playing nearly 200 shows in 2022 across Australia, Europe, North America and culminating with a New Year’s Eve booking in Tokyo. He’s earned club residencies in Las Vegas and New York, and will be returning to Ibiza Rocks in 2023, having established himself as the iconic venue’s flagship residency last summer. It’s a relentless schedule but he feeds off it, living and breathing music. After club and festival sets, he usually heads into the crowd, never passing on an opportunity to enjoy his favourites. Music is his main inspiration in life, and he constantly immerses himself in new sounds and trends, seeking out ways to improve and get better. A raft of new music planned for 2023 will show off the range of his artistry, pointing to all corners of the dancefloor, with a planned debut album set to mark a new pinnacle. Always learning and getting better, his career has duly goes from strength to strength. He’s achieving childhood dreams at a rate of knots and barely pausing for breath, turning his focus to the next level. Ultimately, he wants to build his brand globally and be considered among the greats, not just achieving milestones but having longevity at the top of the game. “This is not a sprint, it's a marathon,” he reflects. With a background in fitness, and driven by core tenets of passion and dedication, there’s no doubt he has the stamina for it.
